Kiss Me I Am Emo

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me”. (Deuteronomy 5:8)

Marek Delong and Anna Slama met in Brno, where they became friends and began to work in the context of contemporary art. They did not establish themselves as a stable and systematically cooperating creative pair of artists until one went to Prague and the other to Stockholm. Their current joint work is thus created at two distant separate locations, making it impossible to work in a shared studio. The artists meet mostly when they install their exhibitions, creating the intended whole out of individual, disconnected parts. Together, they have recently presented their work at the exhibitions Sandbox Frontex Litany (within the PAF in Olomouc, Czech Republic, 2015), Incentive2 (207 Gallery, Prague, 2016), Good Old Sober Addict (City Surfer Office, Prague, 2016) and in the group shows Letting Go (with the Kiss Me Iam Emo environment, Trafo Gallery Budapest, 2017) and Afterbirth of a Dream (MeetFactory, Prague, 2017).
