2025 FOTOGRAF MAGAZINE OPEN CALL TALENTS WANTED!

We are looking for new talents! Fotograf Magazine issues an open call for professionals, amateurs and students who are invited to submit their photo projects. We are interested in artworks (fine-art photography / moving image) representing a distinctly defined project of an independent and non-commercial character.

We appreciate all genres and the most diverse approaches of artistic creation, because one of goals of “Fotograf – contemporary photography zone” is to discover talents. We are looking for talents of any age. Talents wanted. Let’s sign in!

Two selected projects will be published in the next printed issue of the Fotograf magazine. Fotograf magazine is one of the leading global magazines devoted to photography and contemporary art. The winners will be chosen by the jury whose members including professionals and experts on contemporary visual art.

The deadline for the submissions is May 31, 2025.

Early bird at reduced price are welcome till April 15, 2025.

Submission terms and conditions:

  • CV (.pdf)
  • Portfolio (.pdf, max 10 MB)
  • Project description + images (description maximum 1 500 characters, all in one file .pdf, max 10 MB)
  • Any e-mail attachments must be properly identified (Surname_Name + CV / Portfolio / Project)
  • Send your projects to email: barbora.polachova@fotograf.zone and indicate “OPEN CALL MAG” in the email subject line
  • The number of projects submitted by one author is not limited
  • The participation fee per project is 35 € (Early birds: 28 €)

The winners will be announced on July 30, 2025 on www.fotograf.zone, social media @fotograf.zone and addressed by email.

Jury:

Ángel Luis González Fernández

is the founder and director of PhotoIreland, an organisation that promotes critical engagement with photography notably through its annual international photography festival in Dublin. Together with his colleague Julia Gelezova, he has initiated projects such as OVER Journal, the Critical Academy, The Library Project, and has established various residencies and professional development programmes in support of artists. In 2025, he will launch a new space dedicated to advanced visual arts practices in Ireland.

Markéta Kinterová

is the artistic director of Fotograf.zone, artist and teacher. She attends a number of international festivals regularly and is a member of the European talent support platform Futures. She has had a number of solo and group exhibitions. Since 2016 she has been the head of the documentary photography studio at FAMU in Prague.

Rafał Milach

is a visual artist, photographer, and educator. His work focuses on the tension between society and power structures. Co-founder of the Archive of Public Protests and Sputnik Photos collectives. His works have been widely exhibited and can be found in public institutional collections worldwide. In 2018 Rafał joined Magnum Photos. He is a professor at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of Silesian University in Katowice, Poland, and has been awarded the Dr. Erich Salomon Award and the World Press Photo Prize.

Marie Tomanová

is a photographer exploring themes of identity, gender, and memory, currently living and working in NYC. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in New York, Prague, Tokyo, and Paris, and featured in major photography festivals such as Rencontres d’Arles. She has published three acclaimed photobooks: Young American (Paradigm Publishing, 2019), New York New York (Hatje Cantz, 2021), and It Was Once My Universe (SuperLabo, 2022). She is the subject of the upcoming HBO documentary World Between Us (2024).

Lea Vene

is an independent curator, cultural anthropologist, and lecturer at the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb. She was a curator at ETNOFILm festival and Miroslav Kraljević Gallery in Zagreb. She curates exhibition programs for the International Photography Festival Organ Vida and performance events for Gallery Močvara. She’s a researcher at CIMO – Centre for Research of Fashion and Clothing (Zagreb, Croatia).
