Peter Janáčik

We can say that the approach of each artist who works with photography highlights (whether intentionally or unkowingly) some aspects characteristic of the medium. The Slovak artist Peter Janáčik (1966) accentuates its fragmentary quality, as well as its dispassionate distance and sense of manipulation. He chose photography, fascinated by the moments of transformation inherent to his role. By virtue of taking the camera into one’s hands, one changes from being a participant in an event to a voyeur and a manipulator of the action itself.
