The Ethos of Subversion and Fluidity

The images in the work of the exiled Russian artist Sasha Chaika appear to him spontaneously as visions from the borderland of sleep; the waning state of consciousness. He samples those fleeting hypnagogic scenes into a fascinatingly disturbing, emotional, carnal, post-apocalyptic alternative reality. Although his photography isn’t explicitly political, its undertone calls for an era of subversion and fluidity in art and society.
