Fotograf Magazine

We are looking for new talents! Fotograf Magazine issues an open call for professionals, amateurs and students who are invited to submit their photo projects. We are interested in artworks (fine-art photography / moving image) representing a distinctly defined project of an independent and non-commercial character. 

We appreciate all genres and the most diverse approaches of artistic creation, because one of goals of our “Fotograf – zone of contemporary photography” is to discover talents. We are looking for talents of any age. Talents wanted. Let’s sign in!

Three selected projects will be published in the next printed issue of the Fotograf magazine. Fotograf magazine is one of the leading global magazines devoted to photography and contemporary art. It is distributed to 25 countries around the world. The winners will be chosen by the jury whose members including professionals and experts on contemporary visual art.

The deadline for the submissions is June 30, 2023.

• CV (.pdf)
• Portfolio (.pdf, max 10 MB)
• Project description + images (description maximum 1 500 characters, all in one file .pdf, max 10 MB)
• Any e-mail attachments must be properly identified – CV / Portfolio / Project / Name
• Send your projects to email: barbora.capova@fotografnet.cz and indicate “OPEN CALL” in the email subject line
• The number of projects submitted by one author is not limited
• The participation fee per project is EUR 30

Jury:

Emese Mucsi
Emese Mucsi is a Hungarian-born curator, editor, art critic. She is a member of the curator’s collective BÜRO imaginaire since 2012. From 2014 to 2018, she was the editor-in-chief of Artmagazin Online. She is a curator of the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest since 2018. Emese is a doctoral candidate at Eötvös Loránd University’s Film, Media, and Cultural Theory PhD program.

Constanze Müller
Constanze Müller is curator, art mediator and project manager. She is co-founder and director of D21 Art Space, that runs the f/stop – Festival for Photography Leipzig. As curator she has organised multiple exhibitions, festivals, symposia or film programs on society-related topics. 

Moritz Neumüller
Moritz Neumüller  is a curator, educator and writer in the field of photography and new media. He has worked in research and management positions for international institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, La Fábrica in Madrid and PhotoIreland in Dublin. He is currently chief curator of the Photobookweek Aarhus, Denmark. Since 2010, he runs The Curator Ship, a platform that provides useful information for visual artists and curators. 

Simon Roberts
Simon Roberts is a visual artist based in Brighton, UK. He has exhibited widely and his photographs reside in major public and private collections, including the George Eastman House, Deutsche Börse Art Collection and Victoria & Albert Museum. He is the author of several monographs including Motherland (2007), We English (2009), Pierdom (2013) and Merrie Albion – Landscape Studies of a Small Island (2017).

Raphaëlle Stopin
Raphaëlle Stopin is director of the Centre photographique Rouen Normandie, France. As a curator, she is as much interested in exploring new photographic writing and young creation as in putting them into perspective by (re)discovering historical works. Amongst her recent shows are William Klein’s retrospective exhibitions at Foundation Telefonica, La Pedrera in Madrid, Barcelona and Seoul as well the creation of Frutescens, a new programme dedicated to young French photography.

Anna Voswinckel
Anna Voswinckel is a curator, writer, artist and designer, based in Berlin and Graz. She taught visual arts and photography for many years, among others at the Academy of Fine Arts (HGB) Leipzig. Anna Voswinckel was co-curator of the Fotograf Festival #10, „Uneven Ground“, together with Stephanie Kiwitt and Tereza Rudolf. Since 2023 she is the head of the exhibition program of Camera Austria gallery, Graz.
