Jan Ságl (born 1942) works across all genres, but his landscapes are the most visible part of his many photographic activities. His relationship to this theme reaches deep into the past and continues until today – it is a stable and fervent interest of his, but it has not made him a committed landscape photographer who believes only in genuine natural sceneries. Sag’ observes the landscape in all its aspects and has always favored sceneries marked by mankind – places where man has been or where he lives, places which he either imbues with something or from which he has taken something, at times of course at the landscape’s expense.
