Petra Skoupilová

In female roles

Petra Skoupilová, (b.1944), studied reproduction photography but her journey to being an artist was slow. Through her work as secretary in the music publishing house Supraphon, she joined the Ashahi Pentax Photo Club at the beginning of the 1970’s. Among her friends was also the guru of ‘art nude’ photography, Taras Kuščynskyj. Although there is a similarity in their poetic approach, in comparison to Kuščynskyj’s women presented as ornaments, Skoupilová focuses on women as personalities and leaves beauty to the second place.
