The title of the series How to Hunt by Danish artists Nicolai Howalt and Trine Sondergaard is meant to be ironical, since it certainly is not a hunting manual or a documentary on the art of the hunt. The artists’ visually impressive, perfectly composed landscape images explore the ambivalent fascination with and romantic aspects of the hunting ritual. Fog-shrouded glades and meadows, snow-covered trees or trees cloaked in the melancholy colors of autumn, and the sight of birds soaring above the horizon – one can almost hear the sound of barking dogs, the blowing of the bugle and the sound of birds’ wings.
