Rudolf Skopec
Rudolf Skopec: Photographer, Historian, Teacher and Collector. This year marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of Rudolf Skopec, one of the legends of Czech photography. Skopec was born on July 7th 1913 in Velké Meziříčí into a photographer’s family, and he later apprenticed in the family’s studio. In 1933-1934 he spent a year at the Bayerische Staatsanstalt für Lichtbildwesen photography school in Munich, where he became acquainted with the European art movements of the day, as well as forming important friendships. After returning from Munich he moved to Prague, where he worked in several photography studios and for photography magazines.
