The Photographic Dimension
I draw on the premise that there exists no definition of photography, because such a definition would have to comprise all the vantage points from which it has already been “surveyed”, from which it is regarded today and from which it will be regarded in the future. At the same time this “survey” is always simultaneously co-formed by its broader context, both cultural (in terms of the our understanding of photography), and technological (in terms of new possibilities for photographing). This means therefore that any reflection on photography must necessarily be selective by nature: while working with one or several of these aspects, such reflection can never take into consideration all of them.
