Whereas in the United States, Great Britain, France, and other countries with a high percentage of immigrants, the problem of immigration has long been the center of attention of politicians, sociologists, and psychologists as well as artists, in the Czech Republic this issue went neglected until recently. But now even this country is becoming the haven and aspiration of thousands of inhabitants of other countries, who seek here more freedom or more money than their homeland can afford them. Ever more Czechs thus live in close proximity with people of other nationalities, other cultures, other religions, and often of different skin color, and they are learning to form a relationship with them, to find a degree of tolerance for their differences.
