Bring them to the Light
Distrust of authority was the normal state throughout my lifetime. Conformity and mediocrity was exactly what the powers that be wanted of their subjects. A pedestrian future? Far better for the establishment than a rebellious one. A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers would control a population of slaves who did not have to be coerced, because they loved their servitude.
The tide always turned, we just never knew when. Why did we do this to ourselves? Paranoia was one serious evil bastard. It would destroy us from within. If we were going around spying on everyone with the fear that they were all out to get us, the chances were good that they were. So yes, the elite could have all these fancy toys and shit but it didn’t help them for shit. If it wasn’t us it would be their own minds that would start playing tricks with them.
