It should be said at the outset that Július Koller is not in fact a photographer, and photography is for him a vehicle rather than a medium of his photo-media oeuvre, which is so extraordinarily popular today. Technically speaking, the author of Koller’s photographs is his partner Květoslava Fulierová; Koller is the object, the centripetal force, the true medium of these photographs. They are essentially amateur documentation of what was originally small format, which are today enlarged for exhibition purposes, with the number of their edition strictly controlled.
