Boris Missirkov & Georgi Bogdanov
In the field of contemporary art photography, Boris Missirkov and Georgi Bogdanov’s large-format photo series ID 2000 is a central work. It depicts the generation of Bulgarians who, following the collapse of Communism, have spent the crucial years of their youth trying to imitate Western rituals and the mediagenerated surfaces. In their work as artists and professional photographers, the young and dynamic duo have managed to combine their artistic ambitions and professional interests in ID 2000. The project proposal was initially offered to a Sofia-based travel agency for international student and youth travel. The agency was working on a calendar for the year 2000, which was supposed to present the spirit of the younger generation of Bulgarians to a larger audience, focusing on the internationally emerging youth culture rather than just on the local context.
