Jesper Alvaer

Jesper Alvaer, a Norwegian studying under the graphic artist Vladimír Kokolie at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, is known to the Czech artistic public mainly on account of his work in video over the last few years. His video recordings were presented at the collective show of East European artists, A Distant Resemblance, at the Great Exhibition Palace of the National Gallery, in 2000. This year, he had a solo show at the Malá Špálovka Gallery and he represented the Display Gallery of
Contemporary Art at the Forum of Independent Galleries of the Zvon 2002 [Bell 2002] project. His videotapes show a constant fascination with experience, dissociated as far as possible from the object depicted and the surrounding context.
