The Defiance of Dance

If dancing is a collective human way of communicating memory, history and identity, then the improvised movement is the physical equivalent of rap. There is a poetic revolutionary potential in freedom of physical expression, in the way a body moves and presents itself. There is possibility in the body. Arguably, pleasure activism manifests in its purest form in dance – something deeply evident in the work of Wu Tsang.
