Rudolf Sikora
No! No! Yes?
The starting point for minor observation and brief contemplation of the nature of Rudolf Sikora’s (1946) work could in fact be his self- portrait called, Ne! Ne! Ano? / No! No! Yes? (1980). It contains several supporting layers that resonate throughout the four decades of the artist’s overall previous works. An active observer and attentive archivist, at the start of the 1980s, knowingly changed the perspective of his observations: from a generous, objectifying, detached view during the 1970s to a focused, absorbed and more modest one. On the contrary, in the 1990s, his interest in monumental macro-detail come to the for.
