Interview by Pavel baňka with štěpán Grygar

Our paths have crossed many times; we have many common experiences from the days prior to the fall of Communism and after as well. How would you define the main changes that have taken place in Czech photography since the system changed?

I don’t know if it would be prudent to separate Czech photographers from other artists. Radical changes have come about through the mutual interconnection of various media. It is also now clear that rather than artists themselves having failed under the past regime, it was the area of theory that failed. And we are living with the consequences of this failure still today.

What did these changes mean for you personally?
